Memorial laid for victims of car crash

A small memorial of faded wreaths and flowers sits on the curb of Glenridge Ave. on the hill up to Brock to mark the spot where two people were killed in a violent car crash.
A collision between two vehicles took place on Glenridge Ave., known as Sanitarium Hill, behind Brock University, claimed two lives and left three people with various injuries.
The accident occurred on April 30, at approximately 1:20 a.m. when a Chevrolet Cavalier going down the hill swerved into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with a Pontiac Sunfire going up the hill. There were no initial reports of alcohol or drug use being a factor in the collision.
The driver of the Cavalier, Brian Cosgrove, 26, of St. Catharines, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kevin Fegan, 26, of Thorold, was the rear seat passenger in the Cavalier and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Lucasz Gotfryd, 27, from Thorold, the front seat passenger in the Cavalier, was transported to St. Catharines General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and then released.
The driver of the Sunfire, Adar Hassan, 51, of St. Catharines, suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported to St. Catharines General Hospital.
Hassan's front seat passenger, Bahja Ali, 14, of St. Catharines, was transported by ambulance to St. Catharines General Hospital but was then later transported by air ambulance to McMaster University Hospital to treat her life-threatening injuries.
The fatal accident still remains under investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit. They are currently seeking witnesses that may have seen the crash.
