Brock News:
The Badger men's basketball team dropped their Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season opener 72-66 when they travelled to Queen's on Friday. The Badgers were up by 10 heading into the half but ended up losing by six points due to the lacklustre third quarter where they were outscored 21-8. The men bounced back when they thumped Royal Military College by a score of 105-73. After Saturday, senior Brad Rootes became the Badger's sixth all-time leading scorer.
The women's basketball team earned their first victory in an overtime victory on the road over Queen's University by a score of 55-53. The Badgers were lead by Sharon Hollinshead and her game-high 18 points.
The Brock women's hockey team travelled to Waterloo to take on the top team in Ontario, the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks. The Badgers pulled out a tie, earning their very first point ever on the road against Laurier. Brock was lead by the stellar goaltending of Beth Clause. The women then faced the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday and lost another goaltender's duel by a score of 1-0.
The women's volleyball team lost games to both schools from Waterloo this weekend. The Badgers were swept three sets to none by the Hawks from Wilfred Laurier on Saturday and then dropped three of four to first place Waterloo.
The Badgers men's and women's wrestling teams both captured team titles at the University of Toronto Open. For the women, Jasmine Mian, Debra Jehu and Megan Dolan all finished first in their respective events. Emily Filmore, Laura Steffler, Alishah Depass and Sara Leo also medalling for the Badgers. On the men's side, CJ Hudson, Ryan Weicker and Brad Trimble all led Brock by capturing golds while Dylan Fryia, Alex Brown, Josh Lee, Mike Neufeld and Pete Simon all received medals as well.
The Brock Badgers squash team participated in the OUA West Sectional Squash Tournament on the weekend. The men faced two extremely tough opponents in McMaster and the 24-time defending champion Western Mustangs, losing both these matches 5-1 and 6-0 respectively. Brock then took on the Waterloo Warriors and came out with a 3-3 split, highlighted by Andy Roberts getting his first win as a Badger.
Both men's rugby player Ray Barkwill and women's hockey player Beth Clause were named Henley Honda Male and Female Athletes of the Week. Barkwill was named the OUA championship MVP helping lead the Badgers to their very first OUA Rugby Championship in the school's existence.
Clause backstopped the Badgers in both games this weekend allowing only one goal against, including a tie against first place Laurier. Clause recorded a very impressive 65 saves and a .969 save percentage.

Watch This:

The Brock Badgers men's hockey team will host the Western Mustangs on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. The Badgers lost the previous meeting between these two teams by a score of 6-0. The Mustangs are going to have a lot of back-up this time around as they have organized several different fan buses to St. Catharines for their support versus the Badgers.
