The weather outside may be frightful, but the events planned for Frost Week are absolutely delightful.

The theme for this year's Frost Week 2009 is Go Frost Yourself, and students need not dread the start of a new semester. BUSU has events planned throughout the week to keep students entertained and occupied.

The idea for this year's theme comes from a line from the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, according to BUSU's special events coordinator, Lianne Bradley. From Jan.5-10, there will be a different event every day for students to look forward to on their first week back at school.

"I'm [excited about] getting back into the swing of things," said Mark Wrzosek, Vice President of Student Services.

The fun and festivities begin on Jan.5 with a pick-up sports night from 6-11 p.m. in the Ian Beddis Gym. This free event features pick-up games every hour, including volleyball, basketball, badminton and soccer.

From Jan. 6-8, students can stop by the Schmon Tower from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for a hot drink and sweet treats. Free hot chocolate and maple syrup toffee pops will be provided by BUSU just outside the Schmon Tower, conveniently located for students traveling between classes.

From Jan. 6-8, there will also be an opportunity for students to donate to the Spread the Net campaign launched by Rick Mercer and Belinda Stronach in September 2008. In the hallway outside the Computer Commons between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., students can donate a loonie for the Loonie Mile.

That night, there will be a Stop Light Party at Isaac's - the campus bar - starting at 9 p.m. This annual event has a three dollar cover and requires students to dress according to their relationship status: red if you're taken, yellow if you're in a "complicated relationship" and green if you're single. Glow bracelets and necklaces in each colour will also be available at the door. This is usually Wrzosek's favourite event. Last year, he was surprised at the large turnout and the fact that the "bar filled up at capacity".

Isaac's will host a Vendor Fair on Jan.7 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., providing students with a chance to check out booths set up by local businesses and Brock services.
