What has BUSU done for you?

As this term comes to a close, it seemed appropriate to see where BUSU currently stands on many of the promises they made during the election campaigns at the end of last year. BUSU President Lianne Bradley and VP University Affairs Rob Lanteigne were happy to oblige.
Accomplished:
O-Week: If you were there, you know what a big accomplishment it was, with the most successful events to date and the most participants ever in Frosh Week.
OUSA Tuition Policy: As the Ontario framework expires, BUSU has been successful in lobbying for a more practical tuition program than the flat five, four or three credit charge program.
24-Hour Study Space: Fresh out of negotiations, BUSU has initiated a pilot project to have the Kenmore Centre open all day and night for students who need to study.
Shinerama: Raised more than $30,000, nearly $10,000 more than last year
Student E-mails: Though it may not seem like a big deal, BUSU has had a major victory in being allowed to send a certain number of preset E-mails to students to keep them informed.
"Being able to send these E-mails out is a major win [...]especially with how it will allow us to get the constant feedback that is crucial," said Rob Lanteigne.
Failed:
Taxi Passenger Bill of Rights: The hope to create a bill of rights that would keep student passengers safe and charged fairly was not approached as of yet.
Teaching Evaluations: Part of Lanteigne's platform, this plan to emphasize student reviews of faculty was unfortunately pushed aside for the time being, but is to be addressed next term.
Improved Bus Waiting Areas: Part of Bradley's original platform, upgrading waiting areas outside of Schmon has not yet left the "discussion" phase.
"Currently we are just in discussions over the size of the projects [with the university]" said Bradley. "No other steps has been completed."
Brock Homecoming: Another part of Bradley's platform, this was not addressed in a timely fashion, and the opportunity was missed.
