What do you feel is the strongest aspect of your platform for the 2010-11 year, that you feel will benefit students both now and in the future?

My platform contains numerous objectives and 'tweaking' of currently policy, all intended to benefit students. First and foremost is the value of the student dollar. It is extremely important that within our management of student money that we are focused on getting the most of every dollar before we start asking students for more money. This means we diligently comb through our expenditures to ensure we are being as efficient as possible in all areas.

How will you address the issue of student apathy on campus?

Call me an eternal optimist, however I'm a firm believer that the lack of student participation/spirit is not due to an absence of passion or commitment to Brock, but to the failure on our part to sufficiently reach and inform the student body of what's happening. The solution?? It is BUSU's job to create and maintain positive relationships with ALL services and departments on campus. This unity will bring about success; one message, one voice.

In your view, what should BUSU's role be in every student's day-to-day life?

BUSU should be the unconditional supporter for all students, to help ensure both academic and personal success from day one until graduation. It's important at times to act as a mentor, to lead and interact with honesty and integrity, being sensitive when needed, yet able to make the tough decisions.

What is the biggest change you would like to see in BUSU in the upcoming year?

I want to see a government that genuinely puts the students first; one that is Responsible in its decision-making processes. I want to see a government that is Accountable for its actions and not afraid to take an educated position and fight for the students; one that Leads by example, fighting for the future needs of students while simultaneously providing exceptional service now. Responsibility, Accountability, and Leadership... that's my new BUSU.
