Men's Basketball
The Badgers (7-9 OUA) split a pair of games on Jan. 27 and 30, falling to Laurier 75-58 at home, before defeating Guelph on the road. Versus the Golden Hawks, Male Athlete of the Week Clinton Springer-Williams had a game-high 27 points and seven rebounds. The rookie would net two free throws in the closing seconds against Guelph, allowing the Badgers to squeak out a 57-56 victory. In the game, he had 15 points and, while sophomore Didi Mukendi led all scorers with 16 points.
Women's Basketball
The Badgers improved to 10-6 with a pair of wins on Jan. 27 and 30. In game one, Brock knocked off Laurier 88-57 at home, as senior Whitney Gorges had a game-high 23 points, including a career-high five three-pointers. Junior Hillary Woodside netted 20 points, while senior Lauren Stewart and sophomore Emily McKay added 13 and 11 points respectively. A 63-42 road win at Guelph saw Woodside leading all scorers with 14 points and earn a career-high 11 rebounds. McKay and senior Britt Pegg had 12 and nine points respectively, while rookie Hayley Neal notched a career-high eight points.
Men's Hockey
Brock's men's hockey team (9-16 OUA) were shutout over two road games last week, falling to Guelph 9-0 on Jan. 28, followed by a 4-0 loss to Waterloo the following day. Rookie goaltender Jordan Bent recorded 60 saves in the pair of losses, as Brock has only one win in their last nine games.
Wrestling
Competing at the Ontario Jr. Championships on Jan. 30, Brock's women's and men's wrestling teams earned respective finishes of second and fourth overall. Top finishers for Brock included Steph Ropel (gold, 51kg), Marissa Sorell (gold, 67kg), Jake Hergenhein (gold, 60kg), Jade Parsons (silver, 51kg), Alexis Kilroy (bronze, 63kg) and Eric Slute (bronze, 96kg). Brock will compete in the OUA Championships Feb. 13 at Western.
